Who we are

At Dreaming Machines, we believe that making the world a better place starts with listening - really listening - to First Nations peoples.

First Nations First isn’t just a tagline for us; its a way of working, thinking, feeling and being. By putting First Nations needs, voices and leadership at the centre, we create services, spaces, and systems that are more human, inclusive equitable, and better - for all.

We don’t see this as radical. We see this as common sense - the way things should have always been done. It’s about respect, relationships and responsibility - not just towards people, but towards Country, towards culture and towards future generations.

Our team brings together designers, thinkers, problem solvers, and dreamers who are committed to co-creating digital futures that honour Indigenous knowledges and build stronger communities for all. We know that when we start with care, we end with real impact bigger than any of us could ever imagine.

We’re hear to dream, to listen, and to build - together.

Simon O’Toole

Simon is a proud Gamillaroi/Eualeyai technologist, entrepreneur, and changemaker, dedicated to building a future where technology serves all communities with respect, equity, and care.

With over two decades of leadership in the IT industry, Simon has pioneered globally recognised digital inclusion programs that connect marginalised communities to technology, education, and opportunity. His work spans social impact, systems design, innovation strategy, and Indigenous empowerment — all rooted in the belief that technology must be relational, regenerative, and grounded in cultural wisdom.

Through Dreaming Machines, Simon brings forward First Nations first and Dreamforming design philosophies — building ethical, living systems from first principles that serve businesses, governments, communities, and Country better than traditional colonised approaches.

Guided by Indigenous worldviews, a commitment to sustainability, and a deep respect for land and community, Simon envisions and creates technologies that are not only innovative but also just, ethical, and life-affirming.

At the heart of all his work is a simple but powerful belief:

When we design with care, wisdom, and relationship, we create futures where everyone can thrive.
